Paul McCann: Game Night in Big D

I don't know if a trade will happen. It needs to happen for this team to have a shot at the cup, but Poile has rarely ever gone after the big ticket rental (and there are 3 of them this season).

The next two weeks will tell you everything you need to know about this team and this season. If they make a significant move and start to play more consistently, we might have a fun spring ahead. If they keep playing mediocre and make no significant trade to bolster the 2nd line, then it's going to be a short run in the playoffs unless Rinne or Saros get super hot.

At this point, I would have no problem losing any roster player outside of JOFA, Eckholm or Josi - as long as it brought back a decent return.

Tonight's a big game, and not just for all the obvious cliche reasons of a divisional game against a team nipping at your heels in the standings. I don't want to hear any crap about 'revenge' or anything either. (Though that theme will probably be all over the radio and TV broadcast) This team isn't playing well enough right now to be worried about revenge, they just need to worry about winning a game against a team they 'need' to beat. It's time to put on your big boy pads and prove you're the contender everyone said you were at the beginning of the season, and not the team that pooped themselves in Vegas Saturday night. If they crap out another clunker tonight, then I don't really know what to think anymore.

I don't think we need another two weeks to know about this team. They're inconsistent. Period. Sure, there's time to get on a run, yada yada yada, but every time you think they've turned the corner, they lay an egg.

Maybe the Blues catching and passing them will be a good thing. A reminder that they actually have to go out and earn it, it's not going to be given to them on a silver platter.

At this point all i care about is improving the power play, staying healthy and getting in the playoffs. Doesnt matter who or where we play. The win streaks, the division trophy, the President's trophy do not matter.
